The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) has today, presented Certificates of Return to the winners of the local government election In Isolo Local Council Development Area (LCDA).
The winner of the Chairmanship election, Hon. Adebayo Olasoju and his running mate, Hon. Shakir Sadiq Adeola was presented with Certificates of Return today as the Executive Chairman and Vice Chairman of Isolo LCDA.
The presentation was done at the headquarters of LASIEC today where the elected chairmen from the 57 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) were presented with certificates of return.
Olasoju had polled 8,776 votes of the 10,750 total votes cast in the election that was characterised by a low turnout of voters.
The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Hon. Tajudeen Bamigboye had 1,974 votes.
The presentation of certificates of return to the chairmen at LASIEC’s headquarters will be followed by a similar activity for the newly elected councillors across the states.
Olasoju’s emergence has made him the third executive chairman of the council that was carved out of Oshodi-Isolo LGA in 2003. Mrs Modupeola Oseghale was the pioneer chairman of the council and she served for two terms followed by the immediate past council chairman Hon. Shamsudeen Olaleye who spent seven years.
During Oseghale and Olaleye’s reign, there were two interim council bosses namely Hon. Segun Jubril and Hon. Abimbola Oshikoya.
They both served in the capacities of Executive Secretary and Sole Administrator, respectively for 18 months each between both served for three years between 2014 and 2017.
