The legislative arm of the Mosan-Okunola Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has held a familiarisation and strategic alignment meeting with Heads of Departments (HODs) and Heads of Units (HOUs), in a move aimed at strengthening collaboration and improving service delivery at the grassroots.

The engagement, which took place on Wednesday at the council secretariat, brought together councillors and top administrative officials of the LCDA to align goals, clarify roles and deepen cooperation within the council structure.

Councillors present at the parley included the Leader of the Legislative Arm, Hon. Tosin Babatunde Afuwape; Deputy Leader, Hon. Kehinde Yakub; Majority Leader, Hon. John Adejoro Ibijemilusi; Chief Whip, Hon. Ezekiel Odeboju; and Hon. Taoreed Adejare. The administrative team was led by the Council Manager, Mrs. Abiola Apatira-Aderinokun, alongside other HODs and HOUs.

The meeting, themed “Strengthening Collaboration, Understanding Roles, and Improving Service Delivery,” provided a platform for open engagement between the legislature and the executive bureaucracy, with a focus on fostering teamwork, eliminating operational bottlenecks and enhancing governance outcomes.

Speaking at the session, Hon. Afuwape described the parley as a strategic opportunity for reflection and renewed commitment to effective governance. He stressed that meaningful development at the local government level can only be achieved through strong collaboration across departments and units.

“Our effectiveness as public servants does not rest on individual efforts alone, but on how well we function as a united team,” Afuwape said. “When collaboration is strong, we maximise our collective strengths and deliver better results for the people we serve.”

He explained that the engagement was designed to promote clarity of responsibilities, reduce overlaps, improve coordination and close operational gaps within the council system. According to him, sustained improvement in service delivery is essential to building public trust and confidence in governance at the grassroots.

The council leader also urged departmental and unit heads to maintain open communication with the legislative arm, share challenges and ideas, and jointly develop solutions that would enhance internal efficiency and service delivery.

“Every department matters. Every unit plays a vital role in achieving our shared vision for Mosan-Okunola LCDA,” he added.

In their remarks, the Deputy Leader, Hon. Kehinde Yakub, and the Majority Leader, Hon. John Adejoro Ibijemilusi, echoed the call for unity and cooperation, stressing that the success of the council depends on a harmonious working relationship between the legislature and the administrative machinery.

Responding on behalf of the management team, the Council Manager, alongside other senior officers, assured the legislature of their full cooperation, pledging to work closely with councillors to move the LCDA to greater heights and deliver improved services to residents.
