The Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court has remanded an alleged sexual offender for defiling a 5-year-old minor.
The Police arraingned the 19-year-old suspect, Tochukwu Akalogwu, on a charge of defilement.
The Prosecution Counsel, SP Kehinde Ajayi, told the court that Akalogwu, an employee of Hope Primary School in Badagry, committed the alleged offence on the victim, a pupil of the school on April 3.
Ajayi said that the dastardly act which happened in the school premises contravened the provisions of Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Magistrate, Ejiro Kubeinje, did not take Akalogwu’s plea, saying the court lacked the jurisdiction to hear the case.
Kubeinje consequently ordered the police to return the case file to the Director of Public Prosecution for legal advice.
She adjourned the matter until May 28.
