Man bags 2 weeks imprisonment for attempted theft

A magistrate court sitting in Isolo, Lagos has sentenced a 25 year old iIfeanyichukwu Diji to two weeks imprisonment for attempted theft.
Diji, who pleaded guilty to the two-count charge bothering on stealing, was sentenced to two weeks imprisonment with hard labour by the presiding magistrate, Hon. Olufunmilayo Teluwo.
According to the prosecutor, Inspector Oje Uagbale, “Diji and his accomplice, who was still at large, went to a provision store in Ajao Estate, at 4, Jaiye Ola Street on Thursday, July 11, 2019 with the intention to steal. While Diji was bargaining plantain chips, his accomplice had stolen a bottle of groundnut but, upon sighting a security personnel, dropped the bottle and took to his heel. However, Diji was held and handed over to security operatives and this led to his subsequent arraignment.”
Presiding over the case, Teluwo sentenced Diji to two weeks imprisonment with hard labour in community service.
