Speaker at the Lagos House of Assembly, Mojisola Meranda, has enjoined Muslim faithfuls to uphold peaceful teachings as they begin the Ramadan season.
Meranda urged the religious sect to advocate unity, promote existence of love and ensure tranquility with other individuals of different religions.
While addressing newsmen on Saturday, the Speaker mentioned that the existence of peace and harmony will curb negative occurrences of adversity and also enable more societal developments in the country.
“It is a period of sober reflection, a time to move closer to Almighty Allah in supplication, and a moment when prayers are answered,” said the parliamentarian.
“This spiritual period is not only for Muslims but for all Nigerians, regardless of their religious beliefs, to seek positivity and divine guidance.
“Islam means peace, and this is an opportunity for Muslims to demonstrate the religion’s peaceful nature to people of other faiths.
” I greet all Muslims in this sacred period and pray we all reap its blessings in our lifetime and the hereafter.”
