Lagos Pays ₦1.13bn To 732 Retirees At 116th Pension Ceremony

The Lagos State Government on Friday, 4 September, presented Retirement Benefit Bonds certificates and disbursed a total of ₦1,132,116,929.16 to 732 retirees during the Lagos State Pension Commission’s (LASPEC) 116th Retirement Benefit Bond Certificate Presentation Ceremony.
The event, held at NECA House in the Central Business District, Alausa, Ikeja, brought together beneficiaries drawn from the mainstream civil service, local governments and local council development areas, the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB), the Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) and other state parastatals.
Officials described the ceremony as further evidence of the state’s sustained commitment to the prompt and orderly settlement of retirement benefits. LASPEC has maintained that its continuous sensitisation and documentation programmes have effectively ended the long delays that once characterised pension payments in Lagos.
The administration of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has repeatedly positioned the welfare of senior citizens as a priority. In a statement accompanying the presentation, the government reaffirmed that Lagos remains the national benchmark for pension administration.
“Lagos State has consistently demonstrated leadership in public service administration. We don’t just raise the bar of excellence; we sustain it,” the statement noted.
