Lagos Island LG Vocational School graduates 40 Students

Lagos Island Local Government Vocational School has graduated 40 students from different departments.

The graduates had participated in a three-month training in Computer Literacy, Catering and Hotel Management, Fashion Designing and Hair Dressing.

The Senior Special Assistant on Education who represented the Vice-chairman/Supervisor for Education, Miss Sherifat Oshoala in her opening remark appreciated the work done by the principal, Alh. Abiola Agboola in transforming the institution and training the students to be independent.

She said: “One of my greatest regrets from my Secondary Education is that I did not spend time learning any vocational skill at all. I’m proud that you all have embraced this LILG’s Vocational Training Programme which I strongly believe will give you an edge in the labour market.”

Mr. Hakeem Agbetoba, Senior Special Assistant on General duties who represented the deputy Chief of Staff congratulated the students and commended their decision to learn a trade which will be of great benefit to them.

Mrs. Victoria, a parent to one of the graduating students could not hide her joy as she was full of gratitude to the principal and all the instructors for the work done on her daughter, stating that the whole family is grateful as their daughter now makes different delicacies for them, based on what she learnt at the institute.

Another parent, Mr. Abdul-Azeez Seriki stated that the computer literacy class has had a huge impact on his son, appreciating the Local Government for the opportunity given to the child.

In her remark, the SSA Media to the Chairman, Miss. Adeola Olusi appealed to  all the graduating students  to always put to practice all they’ve learnt at the school and improve on it. She appreciated the parents for the initiative and pray they reap the fruit of their labour.

Com. Olawale Aremu of the Lagos Community Youth Development Association thanked the parents for the support given to their children.

He said the children should ensure they practice what they’ve learnt so that they won’t forget and also appeal to them to be careful with the friends they chose because bad friends corrupt good manners.

He recounted his own experience while in school and the impact the kind of friends he kept have on his life.
