The recent general election held in Ladipo International Spare Parts Market in Mushin on 6th March 2024 resulted in the election of a Central Executive Committee made up entirely of nonindigenous individuals, causing concern among the Yoruba indigenes in the market.

This led to a stakeholders meeting being held to address the issues arising from the election.

During the meeting, where the new executives and other key figures in the market were present, it was agreed to resolve the controversy.

The President General of Ladipo Central Executive Committee of Auto Dealers Association (LACEC), Prince Africanus Ogudero, emphasized the openness of his administration to all members of the market, regardless of their background.

Alhaji Jamiu Adetunji, also known as Fine Sharo, stressed the importance of including indigenous people in market matters, as they are the ones who have supported the Igbo traders in building their businesses on their land.

He shared many stories about the market’s history and advised that despite the dominance of Igbo traders, the indigenous people should also be included.

He emphasized the need for unity between the Yoruba and Igbo traders to improve the market. Eze Igwe Monday Lawrence stressed the importance of unity to protect the market from hidden enemies. He suggested cooperation with local government and other authorities.
