On Good Friday, the Chairman of Igando-Ikotun LCDA, Comrade Akinsanya Lasisi Ayinde, distributed cash to both those in need and the general population of Igando-Ikotun to help alleviate the challenges caused by the current tough times.
Around 400 residents, including women, men, and youth from the 7 wards, were given N25,000 each as assistance.
The distribution of cash and grains for the needy took place at the Igando-Ikotun Secretariat, while the cash distribution for the general population was at Klm 5 in Igando.
Akinsanya expressed his commitment to this empowerment initiative due to the prevailing hardships faced by the people, emphasizing the importance of reaching out to assist during these difficult times.
“The decision was also informed by the fact that the people freely entrusted me with their mandate to serve them as the council chairman, so when they are in need, it is morally bind on me to reach out to them and that is exactly what I am doing today.
“ I will continue to attract empowerment programmes to compliment the transformative agenda of our Mr Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who is doing his best to take Lagos State to an enviable hight”, he added.
Akinsanya explained that the empowerment program was designed to help lessen the impact of the current difficulties faced by Nigerians, stating that they aim to support those struggling with the economic challenges.
He mentioned that the problems the country is facing were due to past administrations failing to establish democratic structures that cater to the needs of the people.
However, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is working diligently to find lasting solutions to these challenges.
Attendees praised the council chairman for standing with the people and recognized him as a genuine leader.
Another beneficiary said, “we have never had it so good like we are having under this administration of Akinsanya
“Akinsanya is a born leader and a team player who carries everybody along. The constituents, the party leaders, the stakeholders and the downtown in the society are feeling the impact of his administration. All we wish him is God’s abundant blessings and protection in his political endeavours.”
Akinsanya finished by stating that the community will continue to receive greater benefits of democracy.
