On Friday, October 4, 2024, Prince Usman Akanbi Hamzat, the Chairman of Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government, extended a warm welcome to the Project Assessment Committee from the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs, and Rural Development. The committee, responsible for evaluating projects executed by Community Development Associations (CDAs), arrived with the goal of measuring the impact these initiatives have on the community.
The delegation was led by Mr. Abogunrin Babatunde, while Mr. Alamutu represented the Chairman of the Lagos State Community Development Advisory Council (LSCDAC).
Upon their arrival at the local government, the delegation was warmly received by Vice Chairman, Mr. Oluwatoyin Awoniyi-Akerele, at the Council Secretariat. Mr. Awoniyi-Akerele conveyed the Chairman’s warm regards and reaffirmed the local government’s commitment to securing the top prize at the upcoming Lagos State Community Day, an event that recognizes CDAs with exceptional projects, as endorsed by the Governor.
Furthermore, the Vice Chairman underscored the numerous projects initiated by the Usman-led administration and the CDAs to bolster grassroots development.
Subsequently, the committee visited three CDAs – Harmony Estate CDA, Ise-Oluwa CDA, and Ola-Oluwa CDA – to evaluate the impact of their respective projects on the community.
Pastor Samuel Opajobi, Chairman of the Ifako-Ijaiye Community Development Committee (CDC), along with his Vice Chairman, Alh. Azeez, Secretary Alhaji Bilesanmi, Mrs. Omolabake Oyafunke (HOD, Agriculture), and Mr. Akeem Yekeen (Supervisor for Agriculture) accompanied the visiting team to the CDAs for project assessments.
The committee was impressed by the significant impact of the projects on the local community and commended the efforts of the CDA members and residents.
Despite the heavy downpour, the CDC delegation and the visiting team inspected all the projects and gathered essential details.
Pastor Opajobi expressed his gratitude to the Ministry and LSCDAC for their continued support of community development in Lagos State.
