The Chairman of Ibeju Lekki Local Government, Egnr Abdullahi Sesan Olowa and his counterpart from Ikoyi Obalende LCDA, Fuad Atanda Lawal were special guests at the programme organized by the Global Leadership Development Forum (GDLF) tagged Understanding Local Government Administration and Operations.
The programme, which was a collaboration between the GDLF and the governance and politics hub of the Elevation Church was aimed at making the people understand importance of Local Government Administration as the closest tier of Government to the people.
Speaking at the occasion, Olowa enlightened the people about the Local Government Administration as he also took time to highlight the four cardinal points on which his administration policies were hinged on, which are, Infrastructural Development, Local Economy, Social Development and Security and environmental sustainability.
Speaking further, Olowa spoke on some of the achievements of his administration in education, agriculture, social investments, and the increase in the IGR .
Fuad Atanda Lawal spoke on the importance of Internally Generated Revenue as a means to drive Local Government Administration. He also called on everyone to be fully involved in participating in the political terrain as bringing people together brings more ideas for greater development.
The two Council Chairmen took part in the session that involved representatives from the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC), BudgIT, the Leader of the Yaba Legislative Council, Ojo and a host of others as they discussed details of governance and accountability.
Mr. Oyebolaji Falase, Executive Director of GDLF, thanked everyone while charging them to actively participate in governance instead of laying blames.
