In an effort to address environmental concerns, Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Chairman Engr. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa held a meeting with scrap metal vendors, commonly known as “bola,” in his office.

Olowa expressed his dissatisfaction with the vendors’ practices, including littering the streets and contributing to pollution in the area.

To better regulate scrap metal operations, Olowa announced plans to create a comprehensive database of genuine vendors.

Mallam Biliyaminu Mani, the head of the scrap metal operators, responded positively to Olowa’s proposal, assuring him of the association’s full cooperation. Mani committed to providing a detailed list of all legitimate business operators in order to facilitate the creation of the database.

This collaboration between the local government and scrap metal vendors signifies a step forward in addressing environmental issues and improving the overall well-being of the Ibeju-Lekki community.
