Hunpe Leads Stakeholders in Budget Retreat to Shape People Centred 2026 Plan

Badagry Local Government, led by Hon Babatunde Hunpe, has held its twenty twenty six Budget Retreat with a focus on inclusiveness and development. The retreat brought together senior officials, departmental heads and development partners to discuss strategies that will shape a more people centred fiscal plan for the coming year.

In his remarks, Hon Hunpe described the retreat as an important step in strengthening accountability, transparency and community participation in local governance. He explained that the twenty twenty six budget would prioritise youth empowerment, support for women, economic growth, improved education, better healthcare delivery and enhanced environmental sanitation.

Participants attended a series of expert led sessions. Mr Subair Akintude Moruf, Head of Procurement at the Lagos State Public Procurement Agency, delivered a lecture on effective procurement processes for local councils. Mr Femi Lamina of the Lagos State Local Government Service Commission presented a paper titled Macroeconomic Assessment of Tinubu Administration and the Local Government Role in Cascading Governance to the Grassroots.

The retreat offered a platform for collaboration, innovation and knowledge sharing, allowing stakeholders to align on key strategies for efficient budget planning and implementation. Hon Hunpe commended the participants for their active engagement and urged them to ensure that their contributions are translated into tangible development across communities in Badagry.

The event, which included interactive sessions and technical deliberations, reaffirmed the administrations commitment to inclusive, transparent and development driven governance as preparations for the twenty twenty six budget progress to the next phase.
