Ghetto Tigers defended their crown as the ultimate champions of the HRA Youth Cup after defeating Africa Future Stars 7-6 via penalty shootout after playing a barren draw in fulltime.
In the women’s category, Unification Queens defeated FC Phoenix Queens 2-1 to win the girls category in their debut campaign at the tournament.
The HRA Boys had a pulsating encounter with the Africa Future Stars playing a barren draw.
The heavy downpour of rain didn’t make things easier for both sides as they had to struggle to get the ball moving.
After no goal separated both sides in 90 minutes, the penalty shootout produced some breathtaking moments from the opposing goalkeepers before Africa Future Stars lost a decisive penalty to pave way for Ghetto Tigers to emerge the champions of the third edition of the HRA Youth Cup.
Unification Queens won the women’s category. They took the lead before doubling their effort from the 18 yard box.
FC Phoenix Queens resuscitated their game by pulling a goal back at the tail end of the encounter which wasn’t enough as they fell 2-1 to Unification Queens.
