The third edition of the HRA Youth Cup kicked off in style as Ghetto Tigers Ladies defeated Young Achievers 2-1 at Ilupeju Secondary School (Ilusec).
Idera Sodiq put Ghetto Tigers Ladies ahead with a great finish in the first half, Aisha Bolarinwa doubled the HRA Girls lead in the second half to give the team a comfortable place in the game.
Young Achievers pulled a goal back but wasn’t enough to salvage a point in the game.
In the second game of the day, defending champions, Ghetto Tigers thrash Tuto Atlanta 2-0 to the excitement of their fans.
Ghetto Tigers started the game brightly and it took a great effort from Tuto Atlanta to hit the downright goalpost that engineered an electric encounter.
The ensuing counterattack from the HRA Boys saw a swinging cross that met the header of Yakub Shamsu to give Ghetto Tigers the lead.
Dare Owoseni put the game beyond the reach of Tuto Atlanta as he scored Ghetto Tigers second goal at the tail end of the game.
The HRA Youth Cup LOC secretary and CEO of Ghetto Tigers, Azeez Mustapha advised the participating teams to enjoy their selves as he promised that the scouted outstanding players will be projected to international limelight.
Ghetto Tigers captain, Mubarak Adisa was delighted with his side win as he boasted that they will defend their title.
The HRA Youth Cup have become a household tournament across Lagos State as the influential teams have been listed to participate and add glamour to the competition.
