The Chairman of Surulere Local Government, Honourable Sulaimon Yusuf Bamidele has given 30 students free forms for the Next General Certificate in Education Ordinary Level Examinations.
A statement by his press secretary, Sanyaolu Tunmise said he made the donation in the presence of the vice-chairman
, Hon. Prince Adewale Muiz Dosunmu and the Leader of the 9th Surulere Assembly, Hon. Barakat Akande.
The event was the round-off of the Summer Coaching Class held at Gbaja Girls Junior Secondary School organised by the local government.
The students were happy to receive the chairman who fulfilled his promise to focus on education as an empowerment tool for the children with the visit.
Among the cogent points of his admonition to the students is that they should persistently strive to focus their minds on education, while also ensuring that they see education as the major bedrock for capacity development.
Some of the students were available to speak to the chairman, as they could not withhold their joy, meeting the man who ensured that their summer vacation did not result in waste.
The chairman also thanked the teachers and all those who made themselves available for the success of the education initiative.
The major take home for the chairman was the loud outcry of the children who pleaded with the chairman to ensure that the present administration continues to churn out initiatives that will make them better citizens.
The donation will further relieve their parents the cost of enrolment and encourage the students to perform better in their academics.
