Phase 1 rehabilitation of Bola Ahmed Tinubu Road formerly known as Old Akute Road has been completed by the Chairman of Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government, Prince Usman Hamzat.
According to the chief press secretary to the chairman, Lateef Salaam, the completion of the rehabilitation signals the endpoint of “phase 1” of the project which was terminated at Kudirat Abiola Estate Gate.
Residents and commuters within the area expressed a seamless driving experience since the completion of the road without itches on the portion of the road completed.
Hamzat promised not to rest on his oars as other disturbing parts of the road will soon be attended to.
During his recent inspection tour across project sites in the Local Government, he assured that other failing parts of Bola Ahmed Tinubu Road will be fixed.
Before the rehabilitation of the road, potholes, shallow pits and road-cuts disturb vehicular activities, affected economic fortunes of business owners in the area and even made it difficult for road users to ply.
Some regular commuters had opted to get hooked in traffic jam through another route to their destinations rather than getting stuck on the dilapidated road.
The next phase of the rehabilitation process promised to fix other bad spots including damaged drainages on the road especially alongside the NRC Building axis and Iju Grammar School through Omo-Onile Junction towards Kay-Farm Estate.
Recall that Bola Ahmed Tinubu Road measures about 1.5km and is a major access/link road which eases the incessant traffic issues on Iju-Ishaga road by diverting vehicular activities towards Obawole axis, Iju-Ishaga, Ajuwon, Alagbado and even Fagba areas in Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government.
