The grand Chief Imam of Ejigbo, Dr. Mikhail Sanni, has charged both Islamic and Christian cleric to always give sermons that would give the politician direction to govern the people.
In his Jumat message to commemorate the Nigeria’s 60th Independence, the chief Imam said if the religious scholars continuously deliver educative sermon and preach tough to the politicians rather than praising them unnecessarily, the politicians would discharge their duties to benefit all.
He also charged the political office holders to imbibe the teachings of of the holy Qur’an and prophet Muhammad (SAW) in their dealings.
He said the holy books have analysed how to rule a nation to bring about peace and development, saying deviation from the direction of the holy books has been affecting the society.
“There is no aspect of human lives that Qur’an has not analysed. If the politicians can imbibe the teachings of the Qur’an and the holy prophet, our society, our nation would be better off. Many of the calamities we go through are as a result of deviation from the will of Allah, we don’t do things the way of Allah any longer, our politicians do not govern according to Allah’s direction.
“As Nigeria clocks 60 years, I will implore our politicians to o back to Allah, let them get the directions and education on how Allah want them to rule from the Islamic scholars.
“I also implore all the scholars to preach what Allah wants to the politicians. It should not praise singing all the time, we should always educate them through our sermons to not deviate from good governance.”
He also charged all residents of the country to support their political leaders and discharge their own duties as citizens for the development of the country.
