The Community Development Committee (CDC), Ejigbo LCDA is set to support the health sector in the community as it inspected the primary healthcare centres.

The CDC Health and Environment subcommittee led by Elder Amos Johnson, last week, visited three out of the six PHCs to note their pressing needs.

According to the committee, the inspection became necessary for the CDC to ascertain the real needs of the health centres so as to know where to come in and what to provide for the PHCs.

Elder Johnson told ECHONEWS that the inspection of the healthcare centres would afford the CDC the opportunity to easily contribute to the health sector in the community.

He said the CDC formed various sub Committees to find out where it could assist government in different sectors.

“We have earlier met with the MOH, informed him of our visit to inspect all health centres and we started with the popular Iyana Ejigbo centre then to Jakande Estate and Onaiwamimo centre.

“So far, we noticed that a part of the roof of a centre has been blown off by rain, some centres need ambulance while others need generator and our next step is to reach out to philanthropists through our central body to collaborate with the CDC in order to get the pertinent needs met,” he said.

He further said the CDC aimed to standardise the health sector in the community by rendering the assistance within its capacity.

Also speaking, the secretary of the sub-committee, Pastor Biodun Idris said: “Covid-19 pandemic has been a great lesson for us all and we at CDC want to strengthen the health sector in our community in order to serve as a first-aid medium in period of emergency.

“The MOH made a great effort in sensitising the community through outreaches but we noticed that those who benefited from the message were very few and that is why we are strategising now to reach out to our members by partnering with the PHCs to make themselves available for health sensitisations.”
