Political leaders in Isolo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) have rejoiced with Muslim faithfuls in the council area and across the globe in commemoration of this year’s Eid-el Kabir celebration.
In separate press statements obtained by Echonews, the Federal Lawmaker representing Oshodi-Isolo Federal Constituency II, Hon. Ganiyu Johnson, the Member Lagos State House of Assembly representing the constituency, Hon. Sir (Dr) Jude Chukwuemeka Idimogu, the Leader of the Council Hon. Remy Shittu Remy, the Chairmanship candidate of APC in Isolo LCDA Hon. Adebayo Olasoju and others rejoiced with Muslims in the council area preaching renewed faith in God and sustenance of the significance of the celebration beyond the moment as well as love and unity among one another in the interest of the country.
Johnson, in a press statement issued by his Media Aide, Mr Dotun Oladapo expressed that: “This period requires more patience, fortitude, tolerance, endurance and a greater willingness to make personal sacrifices for the good of all. The significance of the season should be beyond the festivities but towards a sincere commitment to righteous conducts in our human lives.”
Also, Idimogu, in a press statement made available through his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr Henry Uzodinma wished the Muslims a peaceful and successful celebration urging them to use this period to show love and affection to other faiths in the country.
Idimogu who announced the distribution of bags of rice, rams and cows for Muslims in the constituency and beyond emphasised that the significance of the celebration should renew their faith in God and sustainably heighten their love, tolerance for one another and also unify us as Nigerians.
He further called for consistent prayers for the country especially to lastingly overcome the lingering pandemic, noting that with prayers, Allah will cleanse our country of the pestilence while he reassured that the APC Government in the State under the able leadership of Mr Babajide Sanwo-olu, the Executive Governor of Lagos State, remains committed to the protection of lives and properties of every individual living in the State irrespective of political affiliation.
In the same vein, Olasoju In a media statement called for caution in the spirit of merrymaking as he also advised the Islamic faithfuls to uphold the importance of the celebration beyond the moment in the ultimate interest of the nation.
The statement reads: “Eid-el-Adha is here again availing our Muslim Brothers and Sisters another opportunity of a joyous festival and merriments. May I, therefore, join other Muslims and non-Muslims alike across the globe to wish you a very happy celebration. I wish we could uphold and imbibe the spirit of Love, Scarification and Fear of Allah as demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim (A.S.W.) to move our dear nation forward.
”As we celebrate, let us remain law-abiding and well behaved in order that the reward for celebrating may not be jettisoned. I wish we are all reminded that the task of nation-building is one in which we all have roles to play with lawfulness coming first on the list of those roles.
I wish all of us very Happy celebrations.”
The Leader of the Council, Hon Remy Shittu Remy beseeched Islamic faithfuls to not only maximize on the auspiciousness of the moment to pray for themselves but for lasting peace and sustainable progress in the nation.
He, however, called for caution against the lingering Covid-19 as he appealed that all preventive actions must be consciously observed to curtail the spread of the virus as they celebrate.
The councillor representing Ire-Akari Ward, Hon Abisodun Odusina-Adeoye and other political leaders in the community registered their greetings in the spirits of the celebration.
