While the government continues to find solution to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Council Manager, Ejigbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Mrs. Iyabo Ogunyemi, has supported the continuation of the stay-at-home policy for some categories of workers until lasting solution is found to the coronavirus ravaging humanity.

Since the outbreak of the virus in Nigeria, government at various levels have ordered workers from level 1 to 14 to stay at home as a measure to curtail community spread of the virus, while only workers on level 15 and above were allowed to go to office within limited time.

However, responding to the call by some people to allow the workers to resume their duties, Ogunyemi said it should not be considered for now, saying allowing all categories of workers to go back to office is dangerous.

She maintained that the stay-at-home policy should be upheld considering the rate at which the Covid-19 positive cases increase across local government areas in the state.

She said: “For all staffs to resume to office, I will not recommend that for now because of the rate at which the virus is spreading in Lagos State.

“The larger percentage of staffs falls within Grade Level  7 to 12 and it will mean that offices will be crowded but the health personnel knows the best. If they feel that the coast is clear, we are ready to resume fully.”

Talking on how she has been coping working alone in the office without other staff members, the CM said though it is not easy as it were, she learned to adjust and cope with the situation.

Her words: “We have been coping well though not all that easy. We did roster for few staffs working in some essential offices and we come three times a week as directed by the Head of Service, that is Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays except there is need to come on other days.”

She therefore charged all residents to stay safe and be protected; comforting them that everything will be back to normal at the appropriate time.
