The magistrate Court sitting in Isolo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has arraigned a 43-year old man who cunningly made away with the tricycle kept in his care for commercial purpose.
It was gathered the one Oscar Ogbonna took away the tricycle popularly called Keke Marwa by Lagosians, which was given to him by one Mr. Austin Ukete to make money and deliver to the owner on weekly basis.
The prosecutor, Inspector Oje Uagbale stated that after Ogbonna had run away with the tricycle valued at N800,000, the person who stood for him as a guarantor when the Marwa was given to him was eventually arrested and sentenced.
After two years when the guarantor was released from the prison, he painstakingly looked for Ogbonna, found him and got him arrested.
Eventually, he was convicted and arraigned on two count charges of breaching the peace by depriving Ukete and his family the use of their tricycle to make a living thereby committing an offence punishable under section 168 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015, while the second charged bordered on stealing a tricycle belonging to Ukete, another offence punishable under section 287 of the same law.
He was therefore granted bail in the sum of N400,000 with two sureties who are gainfully employed with 3 years current LASRA identity cards.
The case was adjourned till June for further hearing.
