In response to the call for emergency rescue of the victims of the Bus-Train accident that occurred at PWD, Shogunle axis of Ikeja recently, no fewer than 834 people were ready to donate blood.
Following the incident in which six lives were lost and about 85 others sustained various degrees of injury, there was an appeal to the residents to voluntarily donate blood to rescue the victims.
The data obtained by ECHONEWS revealed that at the end of the Day 4, there were 75 requests by the Lagos State medical management; 100 percent of the blood requests were crossmatched; 65.3 percent of crossmatched blood was released for transfusion while 88 percent of released blood were transfused
The data further indicates that our if total 824 donor recruited, 271 were deferred while 563 blood was donated.
As earlier reported by ECHONEWS, governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu led in the blood donation, his prompt response to the donation enciuraged other political leaders in the state including the former Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Kehinde Bamigbetan, and others who have also made their donations.
The governor showed that the residents are human, and that he laid the example of good leadership for Lagosians to emulate.
