The vice Chairman of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government, Hon. Mrs. Modupeola Badmus Aregbe has advised the preliminary stage winners of 2021 Spelling Bee competition to prepare for the state level competition.
She wished them a good luck and encouraged those who did not make it to final stage not to feel bad nor relent as there are still better days ahead.
In the competition held at Oshodi-Isolo Council Marriage Registry, Bolade Senior Grammar School, Oshodi took the first and second positions in the local level Spelling Bee competition held on Thursday October 28th.
The two female students, Vivian Nkwocha and Aminat Adeogun both in SS2 represented Bolade School and made the first and second positions respectively among other eight schools that participated in the competition.
It was an excellent exhibition of knowledge as the competition took four rounds of spelling drills yet, the two aforementioned students remained in the game while others were knocked out.
However, a male student in SS2 class from Ewutuntun Senior Grammar School, Ayorinde Bolarinwa, joined the winning team by emerging third position in the competition.
Afterwards, Spelling Bee competition was conducted for eight primary schools at the same venue and three pupils from different schools emerged as winners.
Primary school category winners are Godwin Gabriel from State Primary School, Ewutuntun – first position; Aribilola Kehinde from Ideal Primary School, Oshodi – runner up and Ejembi Veronica from Ipesa Balogun Nursery and Primary School – second runner up.
Nkwocha, who made the first position in secondary school category, promised to continue to use her dictionary to check for words to make Oshodi-Isolo LGA proud at the state level competition.
