APC Pocket N183m from Female Aspirants as 57 Women Jostle for Chairmanship Position

The 2025 Lagos Local Government elections are poised to make history, not only due to the change in leadership but also because of the remarkable increase in women’s participation in politics.

Echonews Publication exclusively reports that 61 women took part in the recently concluded screening exercise, generating a total of N183m in funds raised from women aspirants alone.

Ojora Falilat Adejore from Apapa Local Government was unsuccessful in her screening due to scoring below average with 57% performance.

Gbadamosi O. Bolanle from Mushin LGA, Sanni Adebola from Olorunda LCDA, Olodungbebe Queen from Ikosi-Isheri LCDAwere not cleared by the screening committee.

A total of 57 female candidates have now been cleared to contest for chairmanship positions in different Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).

These women, having successfully navigated the screening process, are now set to challenge their male counterparts in the highly anticipated primary contest.

In a remarkable turn of events, Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba, the Chairman of LCDA, emerged as the sole aspirant for the APC chairmanship ticket.

Gbadebo-Alogba scored an impressive 91%, securing her position as the uncontested candidate from Ijede LCDA.

The distribution of female aspirant across the LGAs and LCDAs is as follows:

Amuwo Odofin: Leads with 6 female aspirants

Apapa Iganmu, Ejigbo LCDA ,Ikosi-Isheri: 3 female aspirants each

Agboyi Ketu, Ayobo-Ipaja, Badagry Central, Bariga, Eti Osa East, Ojo, Ojokoro, Onigbongbo: 2 female aspirants each

Agbado Oke-Odo, Ajeromi Ifelodun, Eti Osa West, Epe, Mosan-Okunola, Odi-Olowo, Ojodu, Oriade, Orile-Agege, Ota Awori, Shomolu, Yaba, Ijede, Ikeja, Ikorodu Central, Ikosin Ejinrin, Ikoyi Obalende, Imota, Iru Victoria, and Iru: 1 female aspirant each
