ANWFCC All Stars women competition focuses on developing women football – Olajide Royal

In recent times, women football have seen tremendous growth and respect in Nigeria as lots of young girls are showing interest in the game as majority of them have the backing of their parents.

The assistant secretary and PRO of Association of Nigeria Women Football Club Coaches (ANWFCC), Coach Olajide Royal who is also the head coach and president of Royaltoms Queens said ANWFCC gives professional and amateur players a platform to showcase their talents.

“It is a women grassroots competition organized by the Association of Nigeria Women Football Club Coaches (ANWFCC) to create a platform to both professionals and amateur players to showcase their talents.

“The program has been on for the past 26 years at which 2023 edition will be the 27th year. This competition has produced numerous players for the Super Falcons and NWFL Professional players play on the platform of the competition.”

Olajide Royal stated that, players are grouped by their playing position through which an open ballot will be provided to pick which ultimately will be used to create the teams of the tournament.

“The players are grouped by their playing positions and an open ballot will be done to pick the team they will play for by themselves. It’s one of the fun sessions in the competition where some of the players wish to play together in same team and eventually go separate ways while some luckily got paired together.

He further buttressed the benefits of the competition that football scouts are always present to scout for the best legs in the competition.

“The benefits varies, There are scouts from in and outside of the state and country to scout them. We recommends them for National teams and top clubs. The competition also help a lot of them to gain more experience and develop more in the game.

“It was a hunger to help the burden talents discover themselves, achieve their set goals and live in their dream that made us bring a competition like this to reality.”
