The Commander, Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps (LNSC), Ejigbo LCDA, CS Adeoye Taiwo, has explained that the newly formed Amotekun is not going to abolish the already existing LNSC nor the LNSC would be metamorphosed into Amotekun, but the security outfit is going to be a unit under the LNSC just as there are many units under the police force.

He explained that the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency law would be amended to accommodate the Amotekun, to place it under the LNSC “because Lagos state already has on ground neighbourhood safety corps which they have confidence in as the LNSC has been meeting the standard for which it was created.”

Speaking on its service to Ejigbo council area, Taiwo stressed that the Ejigbo community has been enjoying the services of the LNSC as the agency quickly responds to distress calls from the community.

Responding to the request by some residents to have neighbourhood corps patrolling their communities, he said: “Ejigbo is very large and the LNSC personnel cannot be in all the communities, so we have our members designated to each ward in Ejigbo.

“We have good relationship with the CDAs which have our contacts so, whenever they call we give a quick response. And we work hand in hand with the police. We raid with the police if a black spot is spotted, we work with them to eradicate crimes in the community. And whenever we make any arrest, we hand them over to the police.”

Taiwo however urged the community to be more support the LNSC and the police in the community more urging the residents to join hands to ensure a crime free community.

“Security is everybody’s business and should be treated as such”.

He further urged the residents to always call on the neighbourhood corps whenever they are need them.
