The Director General, National Productivity Centre, Dr. Kashim Akor, has charged the newly inaugurated Lagos State Productivity Committee to simulate consciousness of the people towards attaining higher level of productivity in all sectors of the economy in the State.
He made the comment during the official inauguration of Lagos State Productivity Committee, held at the Conference Room, Office of the Head of Service, Public Service Office, the Secretariat Alausa- Ikeja.
Dr Akor stated that improved productivity in any economy cannot be over emphasized and for productivity to take root and grow; its concepts and implications must be familiar to all and sundry, adding that productivity being a multi-disciplinary issue needs the honest and full contribution of every citizen both in public and private establishments.
He maintained that, if Nigeria is to achieve economic growth, we all need a fundamental cultural shift and take productivity seriously.
He said: “Productivity is the key to prosperity and ensures a better quality life as it is an attitude of mind that seeks the continuous improvement of that which exists.”
He thereby implored the committee to work together with the national body to fulfill the desired mandate and further extend the frontier of its productivity campaign to all the nooks and crannies of our great nation.
“The committee has a key role to play in complementing the efforts of the National Productivity Centre to raise Productivity awareness in Lagos state as stipulated in the committee’s operational guidelines,” he said.

While delivering her speech at the occasion, the Permanent Secretary, Public Service Office, who is also the Chairman, Lagos State Productivity Committee, Mrs. Sunkanmi Oyegbola, stated that the committee would do everything to ensure that they achieve the major objective for which they were inaugurated.
Oyegbola, who was represented by the Principal Private Secretary, Mr. Bode Obadina, promised that the committee will give its best to this worthy course to help enhance the State’s socio-economic development, adding that it is a right step in the right direction.
He maintained that with the committee in place, it would be easier to propagate the message of productivity into all strata of lives of the citizenry in the State, just as it will be easy to inculcate productivity mind-set in the teeming populace, which will propel them to venture into entrepreneurial endeavours.
The newly inaugurated Lagos State Productivity Committee members includes; Mrs. Sunkanmi Oyegbola (Chairman), Mr. Sola Obadimu (Vice-Chairman), Mrs. Chinwe Okwuosa (Secretary), Mr. Uwem Menim (Financial Secretary), Mr. Mathew Ajayi (Assistant Financial Secretary) Mr Femi Ogun (Public Relations Officer), Mr. Olusola Ayodele (Auditor), Mr. Nnamdi Enuah (Member), Mrs. Oluchi Odimoku (Member), Mrs. Osemene Augusta (Member), they also include, Mr. Aladetan Abiodun (Member), Mrs. Uwalaka Chinyere (Member), Mr. Adebimpe Olusola (Member) and Engr. (Mrs) Olukorede Kesha (Member).
Amongst those who witnessed the occasion were the Directors and Heads of Department in the Public Service Office and Members of Staff from the Lagos State Productivity Centre.
