Facebook Partners Funke Akindele To Promote Nigeria Movies

Facebook has joined forces with Nollywood filmmaker and actress Funke Akindele to promote Nigerian storytelling globally through the London and Lagos premieres of her latest film, The Four: No One Fights Alone.
The partnership, announced this week, will see the social media platform back the film’s world premiere in London and its subsequent homecoming premiere in Lagos. The events are expected to bring together creators, celebrities and film enthusiasts, while highlighting how platforms like Facebook help storytellers connect with fans and build communities around cultural moments.
Oluwasola Obagbemi, Head of Communications for Sub-Saharan Africa at Meta, described the collaboration as a natural extension of Facebook’s core mission. “Facebook has always been about connecting people, and our partnership with Funke Akindele brings that to life through film,” he said. “Creators on Facebook can reach a global audience, build real connections with their fans and earn money from the original content they share. Through our partnership around “The Four” premieres in London and Lagos, we’re celebrating the creators shaping culture, and helping more creators who share original and engaging content on Facebook to succeed.”
Akindele, whose career spans acting, producing and directing under her Funke Akindele Network (FAAN) banner, welcomed the partnership as an opportunity to take African stories further afield. “African cinema has always had beautiful stories for the world to enjoy, and it’s exciting to have Facebook as a partner in bringing these stories to even more audiences globally,” she said.
As part of the collaboration, Facebook will create experiences at both premieres that spotlight Nigerian creators based at home and in the diaspora. Fans can expect exclusive behind-the-scenes content, premiere preparations and updates shared through Meta Africa and Akindele’s official Facebook pages.
The Four: No One Fights Alone, produced by FAAN and distributed by FilmOne Entertainment, is scheduled for nationwide cinema release on December 11, 2026. The drama explores themes of friendship, motherhood, resilience and loyalty, following a group of women determined to secure the future of a young man they love.
