Olamide Drops ‘Burukutu’, Announces New Album
By Emmanuel Daniji
Nigerian rapper Olamide is back with new music, giving fans another reason to look forward to the end of the year. The YBNL boss has released a new single titled Burukutu, alongside a colourful music video directed by popular filmmaker TG Omori.
The song comes with a strong party vibe, drawing from the energy of street celebrations and the familiar sounds of Nigerian nightlife. It opens with the chant, “Baddoo we wanna partyyyy!” before Olamide launches into his Yoruba-infused delivery, mixing street expressions with catchy rhythms.
Named after a traditional fermented grain drink enjoyed in parts of Nigeria, Burukutu reflects the lively atmosphere Olamide has often brought to his music. The track centres on enjoyment, celebration and the everyday experiences of people who work hard and also want time to unwind.
The accompanying video adds more colour to the release. In some scenes, Olamide appears in a sharp, double-breasted suit and dark sunglasses inside a glowing red corridor. Other scenes feature dancers dressed in white in an earthy courtyard, while the rapper also takes up a saxophone, giving the visuals a different touch.
The release also comes with news of Olamide’s next album. The rapper has announced that his forthcoming studio project, Time & Space, will be released on November 16, 2026.
The album will follow Olamidé, his self-titled project released in 2025, and add another chapter to a career that has seen him remain a major voice in Nigerian hip-hop and Afrobeats.
With Burukutu, Olamide is setting the mood for the project by returning to the kind of energetic, street-inspired sound that has helped him connect with a wide audience.
