Former Nigeria international, Ifeanyi Udeze has expressed disbelief over the national team U17 team disappointing defeat to Niger Republic at the WAFU-B U17 Championship.

The Golden Eaglets lost to their Nigerien counterparts 2-1 despite the abundance of football talent across the country.

Udeze raised concerns about the result, insisting that Nigeria has enough young talents to compete at the highest level.

“I still can’t process it, I can’t believe the Golden Eaglets lost to a team like Niger Republic,” Udeze told Brila FM.

“We have talents all over the place, if you are talking about talents they are everywhere in the country, so I find it hard to understand that we lost to Niger Republic.”

Nigeria, a traditional powerhouse in age-grade football, has enjoyed considerable success at the FIFA U-17 World Cup, winning the competition a record five times.

The WAFU-B U-17 Championship serves as an important platform for young players to showcase their abilities and compete for opportunities to represent their countries at continental and global competitions.
