Dangote Petroleum Refinery has extended the deadline for its planned $1.6 billion initial public offering (IPO) to October 27, 2026, giving retail investors additional time to participate in the share offer.

The extension is expected to provide prospective investors with more time to review the offer details and complete the necessary steps to subscribe to the shares.

The proposed IPO represents a significant development for Nigeria’s capital market, as the refinery explores opportunities to broaden investor participation in one of the country’s most prominent energy projects.

The extension could also help attract more individual investors who may require additional time to assess the investment opportunity and make informed decisions.

Dangote Refinery, promoted by Africa’s richest industrialist, Aliko Dangote, is a major player in Nigeria’s drive to strengthen domestic petroleum refining capacity and reduce reliance on imported refined petroleum products.

The refinery’s public offering is being closely watched by market participants because of its potential implications for investor access, capital mobilisation and the development of Nigeria’s equity market.

With the revised October 27 deadline, interested retail investors now have additional time to review the offer terms, eligibility requirements and subscription procedures through the official channels designated for the IPO.

Prospective subscribers are advised to consult the official offer documents for details on pricing, minimum subscription amounts, payment procedures and other applicable conditions before making an investment decision.

The offer comprises 4.1 billion ordinary shares priced at ₦525 each, with a minimum application of 10 shares, equivalent to ₦5,250. The original closing date was October 13, 2026.

The company said the extension followed strong interest from eligible investors across Africa and would support efforts to expand distribution channels, facilitate cross-border participation and give applicants more time to complete identity verification and other regulatory requirements.
