AFCON 2027 Race: Guinea Bissau Forward, Beto Urges Focus On Fiery Clash Against Nigeria

Guinea-Bissau forward Beto has warned his teammates to stay on alert and not be distracted in their clutchy 2027 Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) qualifier clash against Nigeria on Tuesday, September 29 at the 24 de Setembro Stadium in Alto Bandim, Bissau.

The Djurtus defeated Tanzania 2-0 to kickstart their AFCON qualifier campaign as they face a powerful Super Eagles team on home soil.

Speaking ahead of the crunchy tie, Beto made it clear that taking on the three-time African champions presents an entirely different proposition that requires his side to elevate their game.

“We are taking this game very seriously because we know we are facing a strong team with high-quality players,” Beto said.

Despite the stature of their opponents, the striker expressed firm faith in Guinea-Bissau’s growth and the squad’s preparation under the technical crew.

“However, our group is doing very well, confident, and working intensely. We have been improving game after game, and I fully believe in the group, the coaching staff, and our ability to achieve a good result.”

Reflecting on their recent success on the road, Beto understands the importance of wiping the slate clean and treating Tuesday’s fixture as a unique test.

“The victory against Tanzania gave the group confidence, but the game against Nigeria will be completely different. We need to forget what has already happened and concentrate fully on this challenge, because it will be even more difficult. We have to raise our levels of concentration and focus.”
