CDQ rates Blaqbonez above Falz, Ice Prince, Reminisce and Vector

Nigerian rapper CDQ has stirred another conversation around the state of Nigerian hip-hop after placing Blaqbonez ahead of several established rappers when it comes to music.
Speaking about the younger generation of rappers, CDQ singled out Blaqbonez, saying he considers him stronger musically than Odumodublvck, although he gave Odumodublvck the edge when it comes to personality.
“The authentic is, I will say it as it is, so music wise I’ll say is Blaqbonez but personality wise I’ll say Odumodu,” CDQ said.
He went further, naming some of the established names he believes Blaqbonez currently stands above musically.
“Blaqbonez is better than Falz in music wise, he is better than Ice Prince, he is better than Reminisce, he is better than Vector,” he added.
CDQ’s comments come at a time when Blaqbonez and Odumodublvck have been at the centre of a very public feud that has moved beyond music into social media exchanges and personal accusations. The two rappers, who were once friends and collaborators, have continued to trade shots publicly.
The timing of CDQ’s assessment therefore adds another layer to an already heated conversation about where the younger rappers stand within Nigeria’s hip-hop scene.
Blaqbonez has continued to build his profile through both music and his highly visible personality. His recent releases include “BIG PERFORMER,” released in September, and “I Knoww II.”
For Odumodublvck, the rapper has developed a distinct public persona that has become an important part of his identity as an artiste. CDQ’s comments essentially separate the two rappers on those two fronts — giving Blaqbonez the musical advantage while crediting Odumodublvck for his personality.
CDQ’s remarks are, however, his personal assessment of the artistes and not an industry-wide ranking.
The comments are likely to fuel another round of debate among Nigerian hip-hop fans, particularly over how Blaqbonez compares with veterans such as Falz, Ice Prince, Reminisce and Vector, and whether the newer generation has begun to redefine the hierarchy of Nigerian rap.
