NPFL: Sporting Lagos Gaffer, Jeffery Buter Slams Referees Over Poor Officiating

Sporting Lagos tactician, Jeffery Butter has blasted referees that officiated the club’s 1-1 draw against Barau FC on Saturday at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan.
The Noisy Lagosians came from behind to get a point against the Kano based club in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) in Lagos.
Joseph Atule had put the visitors ahead in the 34th minute from the spot, while Sodiq Ayoade smashed in the rebound to get the equalizer for the home side after Aliyu Baba’s initial header hit the crossbar.
Butter described the referees performance as the worst officiating he has seen this season which he categorized as unacceptable.
“For me, I think it’s the worst officiating so far this season. It’s unacceptable at this level,” Butter told the Press after the game at Onikan.
He predicted that his team will be beneficiaries of the poor officiating if the situation doesn’t change in subsequent games.
“And if we are to keep going like this, then we are going to keep suffering this type of result.”
Butter commended the players for striving hard to get a point in the game despite the challenges the team faced.
“Kudos to the players, we fought well and we earned a point. We earned it, it wasn’t given to us, so we are happy with it.”
After five games, Sporting Lagos have seven points and are ranked 11th on the NPFL table.
The Lagos derby awaits the Noisy Lagosians in their next game as they come up against Ikorodu City on Wednesday, September 30 at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan.
