Young Nigerian entrepreneurs seeking funding to launch, expand or strengthen their businesses can now explore a ₦2 billion financing opportunity set aside by the Bank of Industry (BOI).

The funding was disclosed by BOI Project Officer Lawal Khaleel at a stakeholders’ meeting on the Inclusive Economic Empowerment Project in Kano. The initiative is aimed at improving access to finance for young entrepreneurs and businesses seeking capital to grow their operations.

According to BOI, eligible entrepreneurs can access financing provided they meet the bank’s requirements and pass its due diligence process. One of the stated requirements is registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).

The bank currently offers financing at interest rates ranging from 10 to 13 per cent, depending on the type and size of the facility. BOI also advised young entrepreneurs to develop viable business plans when seeking financing.

Who Can Benefit?

The opportunity is relevant to Nigerian entrepreneurs who have an existing business or a viable business idea and require financing to:

  • Start a new business
  • Expand an existing enterprise
  • Purchase business assets or equipment
  • Increase production capacity
  • Strengthen day-to-day business operations
  • Develop businesses in eligible sectors supported by BOI

BOI’s broader financing mandate covers areas including agriculture and agro-processing, manufacturing, technology, healthcare, creative industries, solid minerals, renewable energy and other productive sectors.

What Applicants Need

Prospective applicants should ensure that their business is properly registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and prepare a credible business plan showing how the proposed financing will be used.

BOI conducts due diligence before approving financing, so applicants should be prepared to provide business, identification and financial information requested during the assessment process.

The bank also operates an official online loan application portal where businesses can begin financing applications, save applications and track their status.

How to Apply

Interested entrepreneurs can begin by visiting the official BOI loan application portal and reviewing the financing options available to their businesses.

Applicants should provide accurate information and submit the documents requested by BOI during the application process.

Important: The latest announcement on the ₦2 billion financing does not state a specific application deadline or a fixed maximum amount per entrepreneur. Applicants should therefore confirm the current product requirements and availability directly through BOI’s official channels before applying.

More BOI Opportunities

BOI currently operates several financing programmes for businesses and entrepreneurs. Its central iProgrammes platform lists active intervention funds and provides access to programme-specific application portals.

The bank’s official website also states that it provides financial and advisory support to businesses seeking to establish, expand, diversify or modernise their enterprises.
