Forex traders, fintech companies, crypto players and other professionals in Nigeria’s growing digital finance ecosystem are set to converge in Lagos as the Africa Forex Trading Expo, AFTE, makes its Nigerian debut in November.
The two-day event, scheduled for November 11 and 12, 2026, at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos, will bring together traders, brokers, crypto exchanges, fintech companies, technology providers, educators, financial professionals and regulators.
Organised by Azelia Expo Ltd, the expo will feature exhibitions, industry discussions, practical workshops and networking sessions, providing participants with opportunities to explore new technologies, products and developments across the financial and digital trading sectors.
A major feature of the Nigerian debut will be the participation of the Securities and Exchange Commission, SEC Nigeria, as discussions around the regulation of online trading continue to evolve.
The Commission is expected to deliver a keynote address and participate in a panel discussion on the regulation and development of Nigeria’s online forex and contracts-for-difference, CFD, market, including proposed rules recently published by the regulator.
SEC representatives will also be available at the expo to engage with attendees, explain the proposed framework and receive feedback on the draft rules.
Beyond forex trading, the event will explore areas including fintech, cryptocurrency, payments, digital assets, trading technology and financial education, reflecting the expanding interests of Nigeria’s digital finance community.
FundingPips and Headway are among the industry sponsors of the inaugural Lagos edition, which is expected to attract participants from Nigeria, other African markets and internationally.
According to the organisers, AFTE began as a pan-African industry event in Kenya before expanding into West Africa with the Lagos edition.
They said the Nigerian market was an important destination because of its large community of traders, entrepreneurs, technology users and financial services professionals, as well as its growing fintech and digital finance ecosystem.
The expo is also expected to provide a physical meeting point for Nigeria’s largely online trading community, which has developed through social media, messaging platforms and digital education.
Participants will have the opportunity to move conversations beyond online communities, discover new products and technologies, build professional relationships and engage directly with businesses operating across the sector.
CPA Zack Kiratu, Director of Azelia Expo Ltd, said bringing the event to Lagos was a deliberate decision.
“Lagos was a natural next step for AFTE. Nigeria has a vibrant trading community and a dynamic fintech and digital-finance ecosystem, and we believe there is significant value in bringing these communities together,” he said.
Kiratu said the expo was designed to go beyond conventional exhibition booths by creating opportunities for businesses, traders and professionals to meet and exchange ideas.
“AFTE is not simply about putting companies in exhibition booths. It is about creating a marketplace where traders can meet the industry, businesses can meet their markets, professionals can exchange ideas, and important conversations can take place face-to-face,” he said.
He added that the event would provide a platform for discussions around regulation, technology, payments, education and digital finance.
“There is a lot happening across regulation, technology, payments, education and digital finance, and we want AFTE Lagos to provide a space for those conversations to take place in one place,” Kiratu said.
The Africa Forex Trading Expo Lagos will hold on November 11 and 12 at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Victoria Island.
