I Got Married at 30, Divorced at 31 — Toke Makinwa

Nigerian media personality Toke Makinwa has opened up about her experience with marriage and divorce, claiming that some men frustrate their partners into ending relationships rather than directly asking for a separation.

Makinwa, who was previously married, reflected on her experience while discussing relationships and the way some men handle troubled marriages.

According to her, some men may avoid directly telling their partners that a relationship is no longer working. Instead, she said, they become distant or change their behaviour in ways that eventually push their partners to leave.

“I got married at 30 and divorced at 31. I don’t even think men have the balls to break up with women these days, they just frustrate you till you leave,” she said.

“That’s their new tactics, they will frustrate you till you leave. A man will never sit you down and tell you it’s not working out but everything about him tells you it’s not working out.”

Makinwa’s comments have renewed discussion around communication, separation and how couples handle relationships that are no longer working.
