Prof. Badejo Assumes Office as LASU’s 10th Substantive Vice-Chancellor

Professor Ayodeji Olawunmi Badejo has officially assumed office as the 10th substantive Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU).

Badejo took over the leadership of the university on Monday, September 21, 2026, formally commencing her tenure as the Chief Executive and Academic Head of the institution.

Her assumption of office marks a new chapter in the history of LASU, with the new Vice-Chancellor expected to build on the achievements of previous administrations while advancing the university’s academic, research and institutional development agenda.

Badejo brings extensive academic and professional experience to the position, with her tenure expected to focus on strengthening LASU’s core mandates of teaching, research, innovation and community service.

The new Vice-Chancellor’s appointment has also generated expectations among members of the university community, including the University Management, Senate, academic and non-academic staff, students, alumni and other stakeholders.

They are expected to work with the new administration in pursuing initiatives aimed at enhancing academic excellence, institutional development and the overall standing of LASU.

As she begins her tenure, Professor Badejo is expected to provide strategic leadership in steering the university through emerging challenges and opportunities in higher education.

The LASU community has welcomed the new Vice-Chancellor and expressed optimism about the direction of the institution under her leadership.
