The Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) has distributed more than 250 life jackets to riverine communities across Lagos as part of its ongoing efforts to promote water safety and protect lives on the state’s waterways.
The beneficiaries include residents of Ito-Osun, Saga, Abomiti, Emina, Itake and Yegunda in Epe, as well as Sagbokoji and Takwa Bay.
According to the Authority, the initiative is aimed at strengthening water safety awareness and ensuring that residents and waterway users have access to essential personal safety equipment while navigating the waterways.
“As part of our continued commitment to promoting water safety and protecting lives across Lagos waterways, the Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) has distributed over 250 life jackets to riverine communities across Lagos,” LASWA said.
The agency added that despite the distribution of life jackets, they continue to engage with riverine communities, encourage safe practices, responsible use of the waterways and important awareness of personal protective equipment.
“Through sustained community engagement and safety initiatives, LASWA remains committed to building safer, more responsible and sustainable waterways across Lagos.”
