Police Arrest Four Suspected Robbers, Recover 25 Phones In Lagos

Four suspected members of an armed robbery syndicate allegedly terrorising residents around Iju-Ishaga and Oke-Aro have been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command.
The suspects were reportedly tracked to a hideout in Idi-Oro, Mushin, where police operatives moved in following weeks of intelligence gathering and surveillance.
Those arrested were identified as Damilare Oluwatobi, 28; Lekan Adenuga, 30; Haruna Sheriff, 22; and David Balogun, 24.
The arrests were carried out by operatives of the Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), following what the police described as credible intelligence on the activities of the alleged syndicate.
According to the Command, the suspects were allegedly connected to criminal activities around Iju-Ishaga and Oke-Aro before investigators traced them to their alleged hideout in Mushin.
When the police searched the location, they reportedly recovered 25 mobile phones, two laptops, a gold necklace, earrings and three cutlasses.
The discovery of the phones and other items is now part of the ongoing investigation as detectives work to determine their ownership and establish the individual roles of the suspects in the alleged criminal network.
The four suspects remain in police custody and are assisting investigators with the ongoing probe, while the Command said efforts are being intensified to identify and arrest other members of the syndicate who may still be at large.
For residents in the affected communities, the arrests could provide some relief as the police continue efforts to disrupt criminal networks operating across different parts of Lagos.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Tijani Fatai, commended the VCRU operatives for what he described as their swift response, intelligence-led investigation and successful operation.
Fatai reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks and improving the safety and security of residents across the state.
He also urged Lagos residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities promptly to the police, stressing that timely information from members of the public remains important in preventing crime and helping security agencies track suspected criminals.
The suspects have not been convicted of any offence and remain presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
