“I Go Soon Leave Music” Davido Tells Erigga

Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has hinted that he may leave music in the near future as he sets his sights on making more money.
The singer made the remark while responding to a post by Nigerian rapper Erigga on X on Wednesday.
Erigga had praised musicians who did not come from wealthy backgrounds and had to work hard to earn their money.
“Shoutout to all the musicians who don’t come from family money and had to grind for every single dollar they earn,” Erigga wrote.
Davido, however, disagreed with the suggestion that coming from a wealthy family diminishes the hard work required to succeed in the music industry.
Responding to Erigga, the singer said people from wealthy families could also work hard and build successful careers.
“No be we say make your pops no guard o. Shoutout to the ones that came from family money and still grind to the top,” Davido wrote.
He described Erigga’s post as “useless motivation” and referred to the rapper as an “imbecile.”
Davido then revealed that he could soon walk away from music, saying his next focus would be building his wealth.
“No worry o I go soon leave their music for una go make my billions… then that shit gonna be boring AF,” he wrote.
The singer also questioned whether people genuinely desire a life of poverty, asking, “Deep down, who like poverty?”
His comments have since sparked reactions among fans and social media users, particularly over his suggestion that he could eventually step away from music after achieving his financial goals.
