Agada Admits D’Tigers Lacked Energy In Recent FIBA Qualifier Setbacks Despite Win Against Cape Verde

Nigeria’s basketball national team point guard, Caleb Agada has attributed the team’s recent losses in the 2027 FIBA qualifiers to a lack of energy and intensity, while giving credit to their opponents and believing there’s room for improvement.
D’Tigers 100-84 win against Cape Verde have the Nigeria basketball team a lifeline in their quest to seal qualification to the FIBA World Cup 2027.
Reflecting on the performances, Agada said his side failed to produce its usual standard for large parts of the matches as they couldn’t sustain the right mentality.
“We lacked the energy to stay in the game. We were not ourselves for most of the game,” he said.
The experienced guard singled out Cameroon for particular praise after one of the defeats.
“Credit to the Cameroonians for their work rate and energy.”
Despite the disappointing results, the D’Tigers playmaker struck a determined note about the team’s path forward.
“We will continue to work on improving our game. There is room for improvement and we will get better.”
Agada led the D’Tigers win against Cape Verde with 26 points, while Josh Okogie netted 15 points to boost their hopes of qualification to the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027.
