Jakande Supervises Zonal Clean-Up Across Nine Wards, Engages Residents

The Chairman of Òdì-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA, Dr. Seyi Jakande, on Saturday led the August environmental sanitation exercise across the local council development area.

He mobilised council officials, members of the Environmental Sanitation Committee and residents to clear refuse and debris from every part of the LCDA. The operation focused on major roads and streets, with teams working systematically to remove accumulated waste and restore order to public spaces. To ensure full coverage of all nine wards, the exercise was organised into three operational zones.

Community participation was strong, reflecting growing local support for regular sanitation drives and a shared sense of collective responsibility.

The clean-up received a significant boost from the deployment of a fourth compactor truck. The additional equipment increased the council’s waste-evacuation capacity, enabling crews to cover a wider area and clear bulky refuse and debris more quickly.

Jakande personally supervised the teams on the ground. During the exercise he also inspected ongoing road rehabilitation works on Adeshiyan Street. He said that sanitation and infrastructure improvements must proceed together if living conditions are to be enhanced and environmental hazards reduced.

The exercise further provided an opportunity for direct engagement between the chairman and residents, allowing officials to hear neighbourhood concerns and identify areas requiring follow-up action.
