Inaugural Grassroots Football Queens League To Kickoff September

The maiden edition of the Grassroots Football Queens League (GRAFOQ) has been scheduled to kickoff on Friday, September 18 at Igbo Lawyer pitch, Sango Ota.
Eight teams will slug it out in the first edition of the women’s football tournament aimed at developing youngsters in the grassroots.
MJV FA, Jojo Queens, Aseyori Queens, English Queens, Royaltoms International, STM Doves, Ijamido Queens and Flourish Queens are the eight clubs that will fight for prestige, honor and the coveted prize at the Grassroots Football Queens League.
According to the organizers, the competition will be played in a round robin format where all teams will play against each other and the club with the most points will emerge champions of the tournament.
Each participating team is entitled with a take off grant of N100,000, while the winner of the competition will go home with N500,000.
The LOC chairman, Micheal Bagbe outlined the rules of the competition while stating that there will be no room for indiscipline among teams and players. He urged teams to adhere to referee decisions on the pitch.
Coordinator of the League, Mr Akeem Adebare emphasized that the tournament will inspire more young girls to pursue football as a career.
Secretary of the LOC, Olajide Royal said the tournament will further foster the development of women’s football in the grassroots
