Imota Announces Oro Festival, Advises Women to Stay Indoors

Residents and visitors in Imota, Lagos State, have been advised to take note of the forthcoming Oro Festival, scheduled to take place from Friday, August 28, to Sunday, August 30, 2026.

According to a public awareness notice issued ahead of the traditional celebration, female residents have been advised to remain indoors from 11:00 p.m. on Friday until 6:00 a.m. on Sunday as part of the festival’s traditional observance.

Community members, parents, guardians, motorists and business owners have been urged to make the necessary arrangements ahead of the restricted period and respect the directives of community leaders.

Residents and visitors have also been encouraged to remain calm, peaceful and law-abiding throughout the festival.

The organisers appealed to members of the community to cooperate with traditional leaders and relevant authorities to ensure that the Oro Festival is observed peacefully while preserving the cultural heritage of Imota.

The notice further urged everyone to prioritise peace, unity and mutual respect during the period.
