Council Of Legal Education Withdraws Professional Ethics Prize Over Online Photograph

The Council of Legal EDUCATION (CLE) has withdrawn the prize awarded for the best graduating student in professional ethics at the Nigerian Law School after an image circulating online was deemed inappropriate.

Aderonke Osho, secretary to the council and director of administration, confirmed that the decision followed a careful review of the circumstances surrounding the award. The council concluded that the circulation of the photograph warranted the withdrawal of the prize.

The professional ethics prize is one of the distinctions conferred on outstanding candidates at the Nigerian Law School. It recognises not only academic performance but also the high standards of conduct expected of those preparing to enter the legal profession. By withdrawing the award, the council has signalled that it regards the maintenance of those standards as non-negotiable, even after formal graduation exercises have taken place.

Officials did not release further details about the content of the photograph or the identity of the recipient. The statement limited itself to confirming that the council had considered the matter and acted accordingly.
