A security guard on night shift identified as Stanley was killed late Friday evening in the Sangotedo area of Ajah, Lagos State.

The crime was commited around Asanjo Royal Estate on the night of 21 August 2026. According to accounts, Stanley was on duty at the estate when two men arrived on a motorcycle and shot him. He died from the injuries sustained during the attack.

Residents and colleagues described the late security guard as a familiar presence at the estate, where he had been responsible for maintaining watch over the premises. The sudden incident has left those who knew him in shock and has physically raised anxiety among residents of the community.

Sangotedo, a growing residential community in the Ajah axis, has experienced periodic security concerns in recent times. The killing of a guard on active duty has intensified calls for improved protection of both residents and the personnel tasked with safeguarding private estates.

Police are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the attack. As of Saturday, no further details on suspects or motive had been made public.

The death of Stanley has once again drawn attention to the risks faced by security workers across Lagos, many of whom operate with limited support while protecting lives and property in an increasingly challenging urban environment.
