Don’t Give Up On Us, Chiamaka Nnadozie Pleads With Nigerians

Nigeria goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie has urged Nigerians not to give up on the team following their abysmal run in the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup Of Nations (WAFCON) and disappointing exit from qualification to the 2027 World Cup.

The Super Falcons were far from their best at the WAFCON as they were knocked out in the quarter final for the first time while also ending an era of qualifying for the World Cup at every edition.

Nnadozie admitted that there are no small teams again at the WAFCON while confessing the Falcons didn’t underrate any team during the tournament.

She understands every team in the tournament sees Nigeria as the team to defeat as she begs for mercy from the Nigeria fans.

“Even before now I know there’s no pushover team at the WAFCON. We didn’t underrate any team, no surprises, we know this type of thing can happen,” she said.

“We know every team wants to beat Nigeria, we know every team wants to qualify for the World Cup. So we have won before and this time we lost, Nigerians should bear with us.”

She further appreciated the support the Falcons have gotten presently and in the past and urged the fans are not to turn their back on the team.

The shot stopper however assured Nigerians that the Falcons would secure the Olympic ticket which the qualifiers starts in October.

“To all Nigerians who have been supporting us. We really appreciate you guys, you have all tried your best in supporting us please don’t give up on us.

“The future is still bright, we have the Olympics qualifiers to play for. As we didn’t make it to the World Cup, we will try and make it to the Olympics.”

Nnadozie experienced her worst WAFCON campaign as she conceded six goals in four matches.
