Suspected Cultist Arrested With Pistol Hidden Inside Bag Under Mushin Bridge
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 24-year-old suspected member of the Eiye Confraternity and recovered a locally made single-barrel pistol during an operation in Mushin.
The suspect, identified as Segun Alani, was arrested by police operatives following credible intelligence on alleged cult-related activities around Ogunmokun Under-Bridge, Mushin.
According to the Command, operatives deployed a surveillance team to the area after receiving the information and subsequently apprehended Alani.
A search of the bag in his possession reportedly led to the discovery of a locally made single-barrel pistol concealed inside.
The suspect is currently in police custody and is said to be providing information to assist the ongoing investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, commended the operatives for their prompt response and intelligence-driven operation.
Fatai reiterated the Command’s determination to disrupt cult activities and recover illegal firearms across the state, warning cultists and other criminal elements to desist from their activities or face the full weight of the law.
The police also urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the Command through its emergency lines to enable prompt intervention.
The development comes amid continued police efforts to tackle cultism, illegal firearms and other violent crimes across Lagos.
